Isfahan SellesultanThe designation of this motif varies, but the translation is unambiguous: the Sultan's shadow. This name was given by the people to a man who ruled this country in the name of his Sultan for 50 years for his loyalty to the Sultan. This man himself designed a pattern formed by rows of vases as a symbol of abundance (in his conception abundance = spiritual riches). It was only after his death that the people took the liberty of imitating this motif and they have been doing so up to the present day. Some of these rugs rate among the most expensive ones in the world. -
Kashan IKeshan, an old historical town, once a place of a court manufacture. The rugs are knotted here for various purposes, e.g. small prayer rugs, huge palace rugs and exceptionally even tapestry figurative rugs (it does not hold that the Muslims do not depict people or animals) - rugs full of symbolism and meaning. -
Kashan IIThe shown rug is a typical Keshan - full of dignity, elegance and refinement, it is of the type that secured fame for this town and object of admiration for the collectors. You cannot just buy such a piece at a bazaar, you have to really look for it. -
KashmarRugs from the Iranian town of Kashmar are full of symbolism. Not only are they of a high quality, but also conspicuous by their decorative character. The common designation "vase Kashmar" is almost unnecessary - vases as symbols of abundance are always depicted in these rugs (abundance of spiritual riches is meant). -

Mey-MeyMey-Mey or Meh-Meh is a village not far from Joshegan, where the motif of this rug comes from. The same at the first sight, but upon touching you will find out that the Mey-Mey is much more consistent than the tattered Joshegan, which is also substantially cheaper. However, both rugs have their own charm. -
MoudMoud, the most appreciated rug of the Khorasan province. Made of high-quality fine lustrous wool, densely knotted, low-cut, with a typically star-shaped medallion and the Boteh motif. It is usually also very elegant without the medallion, with an "infinite" pattern. The details are sometimes elaborated with silk. -

Nain figuralNain, a small town on the border of the Kavir salt desert, a place from which some of the most rare rugs knotted in the Orient come to the world markets. There are no manufactures here. To enable the common villagers to cope with such difficult work, the most qualified ones are given the patterns and the wages in advance and they then spent even several years knotting a single rug. -
Nain HabibianThe very fact that to own this sort of rug is a sign of a significant social status in Persia itself gives evidence of the value of these rugs. A fine warp enables a density of 600,000 to 1,500,000 knots per square meter. Finest fleece wool and silk in the arabesques of the motif create a lustrous silver surface of the rug. -

SarukThe region between Hamadan and Ghom once used to supply high quality rugs for the whole United States. This shade of red was popular there, the quality of the wool and the knotting more than satisfying, the floral ornamentation corresponded with the taste. The motif is always of a floral type, almost without exception. -

TabasThe village of Tabas, world famous for its unique rugs made of wool and silk, is situated not far to the east from Nain. The same motifs as in Nain are knotted here, but the work is much coarser. If you pay a reasonable price for this quality, you have a good and nice rug, which apparently resembles a true Nain to a layman.
