Orientální koberce Palacka

Indie
The Mogul dynasties can be thanked for spreading the art of carpet-making in India: in their newly-conquered land, they desired to have carpets as well in sufficient quantity. Mountain tribes have woven carpets from prehistory, in Kashmir even using silk, but the basic influence is from Persia. In the course of wars, cultures came to mix; the followers of Zarathustra were forced by Islam out of Iran into India, and since the art of the carpet belongs to the Persians, wherever they settled, there carpets came to be made. Attesting to the fact that they arrived in India before Islam is the presence in Indian carpets of the colour green. For Muslims, this is the colour of the Prophet, and as such is used only rarely.
