BijarThe pattern of this Bijar is called "infinite" - was there not the border, it would run to all sides without end. During knotting, the weft thread is wetted and tightly beaten into the warp. After drying it shrinks and the weave is the tightest in the world. This is also manifested by the precise outline of the pattern details. -
Bijar AroosbuffBijar Arusbaf, extra robust and compact structure, elegant pattern, harmonious colour - a rug predetermined to be the boast of the family for several generations. Outlines of some details are set off by silk. -
Bijar with medaillionBijar is among the most solid and the most appreciated Oriental rugs. However, there are differences here that can be noticed even by a layman : the rug knotted by Kurds in the town of Bijar is as solid as a board, the less appreciated soft Bijar is knotted by Afshars in Tekab, about 50 kilometres northwest of Bijar. The unobtrusive appearance and the diamond medallion reveal the quality. -
DjozanJozan is a small village close to Arak and Malayer. It is surprising how good, firm and densely knotted rugs have tradition in such a remote place. The artistic shaping of the motifs is alike admirable and the colour toning is well balanced and harmonious. -

DorukhshDoroksh is a town located northeast to Meshed. The shown piece is a typical rug of the Khorasan province. It can be identified by the used Herati motif, among others. These rugs have their history and popularity; they are knotted as medallion models as well. -

GolthogThe geometrical layout of the pattern and the medallion reminds of Hamadan and the influence of the Kurds. The pieces made for personal use are of exceptionally high quality. Rugs made to be sold or exchanged are cheaper. They are rarely of larger size. -
HerizHeriz, a town in Persian Azerbaijan. The characteristic feature of all the rugs from the town of Heriz is a large geometric medallion - a star which fills in practically the whole central field of the rug. The first Herizes were made to order of Persian rulers. The large medallion in the rug was one of the symbols of the ruler's might. -

MeshedMeshed is the most sacred place of the Shiite Muslims. High quality rugs are made here, with a pleasantly elaborated pattern, from smallest mats to large pieces even ten meters long.
